When the polymer material is used outdoors, it is oxidatively deteriorated by ultraviolet rays, which causes poor appearance and reduction of physical properties. Photo-oxidation deterioration of the polymer material can be suppressed by adding a small amount of light stabilizer such as ultraviolet absorption (UVA) or hindered amine-based light stabilizer (HALS).
Automotive materials are required to retain their appearance and physical characteristics for a long term, and HALS is commonly used to provide the necessary light stability. ADK STAB LA-402AF/Si is a HALS which shows significant long term weatherability for PP articles such as automotive application. The gloss and color stability of PP with ADK STAB LA-402AF are maintained for a longer period than with market reference such as LA77Y* (Graph 1 and 2).

In addition, it is particularly suitable for automotive interior applications made of thermoplastic elastomers such as TPV, showing excellent performance with respect to NOx discoloration and fogging resistance, which are both considered essential for these applications. (Graph 3).
